Being Obese - What Do You Think?

Being obese is something many of us have to admit. Self denial is one of the worst ways of coping with yourself. Helping you deal with this reality is as much of your life as getting up in the morning. Many of us are, have been or will become obese through no fault of our own. Some of us are sick and have medical problems that hinder what little control we have over our weight. Admitting to yourself that you are different because of a medical problem is as simple as having only one arm. You have no control over what you got at birth. I have asthma and until I learned to control the disease and accept it for what it was, it made my life miserable.

Accepting others for something they have no control over is one thing, but accepting yourself for putting too much food or the wrong foods in your own mouth, is something very different. I accept that people in wheelchairs need special attention. I accept that the blind need many more tools than they have been given at birth. I accept that we need to take care of people that can't take care of themselves. But, how can I accept me if I am 50, 60, 70 lbs, over my BMI. How can I defend or maintain myself in optimum physical, mental and spiritual health by being completely irresponsible?

I know some of you say you just need to exercise, eat more fruits and vegetables, not work so many hours, find other ways of coping with stress. . . excuses, excuses, excuses. I know, I have mastered all of them. Accepting you are obese, on the obesity bandwagon and defending your right to be that way, is and goes against all common sense. I accept that today. If my body and all it's moving parts are as healthy by being obese as not being obese, then so be it. But we all know how ridiculous that is.

If you think you are obese and are tired of getting up tired or if you have a hard time tying your shoelaces , just having a look at yourself, take the test and admit to yourself what you probably already know.
