Roses - The Most Delightful Plants in Your Garden
The most delightful plant in any garden is the rose plant.The flower (Rose) has given pleasure to millions throughout the span of history; as a matter of fact, the Rose was the Queen of the garden thousands of years ago before the birth of Christ. It's a natural favorite for Rich, Poor, Kings, Queens, Emperors,Lords and Masters. This beautiful flower transform and dominate the gardens of countries all over the world. Apart from its unrivaled beauty and arrays of colours, the original rose had a bewitching fragrance that captivated the heart of lovers the world over. Petals are distilled to produce oils and perfumes; petals are also used to decorate elaborate functions like weddings etc.; as a matter of ?fact, there are million dollar industries created around the rose. For centuries China and other nations has been using the rose for its medicinal purposes. The Rose, so beautiful and sweet is a very simple plant and lends itself to easy cross-polonation and genetic manipulation; because of this; - Some categories of roses are so colourful, and beautiful, they actually rival the rainbow; yet they have little or no fragrance.
- The total shape (form) of the rose is changed as the number, size and shape of petals forming this category is increase or decrease.
- Some roses are glossy, semi-glossy, or velvet textures with short stems, or long slender stems.
- Some plants has very vigorous, green and bushy leaves and even their resistance to disease and mildew has been improved. Some plants even have the characteristic of trees, bushes, miniature trees, shrubs, ramblers and climbers,and Cluster Roses; due to this, today Roses are now classified into five categories.
- Hybrid Tea Roses
- Miniature Roses
- Shrub Roses
- Climbers and Ramblers
- Floribunda Roses
Planting and Rose Care It's almost certain that anyone preparing a rose garden will be buying plants from a nursery. These will come with either Bare roots, or as a pot plant. Bare roots needs to be kept moist by retaining the plastic rapping, and it's best to nip off any shoots that sprouts before you are ready to plant. Pot plants should also be kept moist, not over watered. For best results, select an area where there will be plenty of sunlight, with normal wind flow; the rose will not thrive well in windy area. Rose need to be in a well drain area (not too much water on the roots). Dig a hole a little deeper than normal, twelve to eighteen inches deep and pack a layer of small stones at the bottom: this will drain water away from the roots, leaving them moist instead of wet. If you doubt how effective the stones may be, place a perforated pipe in the middle of the stones to drain off excess water. Soil must be slightly acid. Be careful not to shake up the roots of the pot plant when planting: damage roots don't recover well enough for healthy growth. Cut both sides of retaining material with a sharp knife, remove material, water well until plant is established I am a known lover af gardening which has been my favourite hobby for a number of years.I became fascinated with roses as a child,and that fascination still holds today.
